I'm afraid we've had to make some changes, and sadly restrictions, to this page. Believe it or not this page is getting spammed and that spam costs us money. If you're interested in the details then please read below. For this form to contact us the email address you enter MUST be registered on our email list. That let's us check you are real before processing the form. If you're not already registered on our email list, please register first - it only takes a moment or two. To book AIM please fill out the form below and press the Submit button at the bottom. We will get back to you as quickly as possible.
No, not Monty Python meets Lost in Space (don't laugh, it's the era of much of our music). You have probably experienced email spam; unwanted rubbish sent to your email address. Those emails are sent by machines processing huge email address lists. According to Spamhaus.org: "80% of spam received by Internet users in North America and Europe can be traced via aliases and addresses, redirects, hosting locations of sites and domains, to a hard-core group of around 200 known spam operations ("spam gangs"), almost all of whom are listed in the ROKSO database. These spam operations consist of an estimated 500-600 professional spammers with ever-changing aliases and domains. The vast majority of those listed [here] operate illegally and move from network to network (and country to country) seeking out "spam-friendly" Internet Service Providers ("ISPs") known for lax enforcing of anti-spam policies." Not satisfied with sending rubbish to email addresses, spammers are now hitting websites; even those as humble as ours. Their robots - software programs that run on their computers - look for website forms. Forms like the one above, or our message board. They then fill in all sorts of rubbish and submit them. Why? I have no idea! Why is that really a problem for AIM? Well, to make every effort to get back to someone submitting the form, our website sends a text message to one of us telling us the details. That text message costs us money every time it's sent. No problem for a genuine enquiry, but gutting when you have to pay to receive spam. It also often happens in the early hours of the morning which it not much fun when the phone beeps either! On the message board we have implemented a validation code system that seems (so far) to be defeating the robots. For the form here I think it is better to simply validate the email address against the email list database. After all, if you're considering booking AIM I hope you won't mind registering on the email list. The email list software checks that emails are genuine by requiring positive acknowledgement. So by checking that list I know the email address provided here has been confirmed. If you have, thank you for reading this. |
